A chat with Natalia Criado
Who is Natalia Criado?
I am a Designer from Colombia living in Milano, I have studied here then i move back again in 2017 with the idea of creating a design studio in Milan.
I launched my personal project "Joyas en Casa," which translates to "Gems at Home," a collection that can be described as a "riot of delicate and
material items," in which tableware, bowls, cups, and glasses instill strong sculptural feelings in everyday objects that brings the concept of sharing.
What does inspire you?
What inspires me are the geometric and voluptuous shapes. My designs are a fusion of these forms and Bold shapes that derive from pre-Columbian culture.
Two favourite things about Bogotà and two about Milan?I like Milan for its cultural heritage, with numerous museums, art galleries, and historical landmarks. The city is quite small compared to other major cities, making it easier to navigate and explore on foot or by bicycle. Food: Milan offers a diverse culinary scene, with a wide range of restaurants, cafes, I like them also for their International connections.
I like Bogota because it is a big city, it has a lot of good vibes and its a super green city. It rains a lot, but i actually miss its weather, and the mountains. I like its Cultural diversity: Bogota is a melting pot of different cultures, with people from all over Colombia and around the world living and working in the city. This diversity is reflected in its food, music, art, and festivals.
Beside design, what is your greatest passion?
I love to travel and dance.
Your tray works on wavy and irregular forms. Is there a reason why you choose them over a straight line?
Onda was inspired by the sea, Onda means waves, and it shape reflects the movements of the waves.
Why did you choose to work with Vero?
I believe in vero since the beginning, it is so fresh and it is a new way and perspective for Design in italy. It is hype and a network from designers and people around the world.
